The journey ahead of you might be challenging

The way the academic system is set up can be a bit challenging for any student, especially for unconventional students, new students, students who are seeking a pathway that transitioning from a community college to a University or other vocational goals.

The journey through the world of academics can be challenging for students. Many different factors can impact your success; you might be a returning student who had to go to work right after high school, those who had “life” situations and circumstances that did not allow them to go to school until later in life. Students who come from economic and or social disadvantages that made their path and understanding of “what you need to do” to succeed is unclear. I am here to help and guide students in any capacity to develop the tools and understanding they need to succeed. My goal is to spark your interest and help you develop the tools you need to succeed.

Some of you, I might get to know others I will never meet ether way. I'll leave you with 5 simple tips that will help you succeed.

5 simple things you can do to pass this class!

1. Show Up to Class

- If you don’t show up, you will not know what is expected of you.

2. Pay Attention in Class

- What you cover in class is what will show up on your midterms.

3. Ask questions when things don't make sense.

- If you don’t ask questions when you are unsure or confused, you are only setting yourself up for negative outcomes.

4. Study

- Things might seem simple but if you don’t practice them, you will forget them!

5. Seek out help when you feel stuck.

- Lots of resources available to you. Talk to your instructor, set up tutor appointments, go to review sessions or join a study group. If you don’t put in effort on your end to improve your situation then it’s not going to change.

Do I need the book?

No, you don’t need the book! Just show up every day and take good notes and you will be set! ONLY buy the book if you know your are going to READ IT and or plan on missing class.

What Do I need to do to get a good grade?

Simple, just try! All you have to do is study! If you find things difficult then ask for help, email me, go to review sessions. There is a lot of help offered to you.

In all aspects of life, you get what you give. When you don’t try don’t be surprised if you fail. If you show up and put in the work you will see progress.
